You don’t have to be in the hobby long until you start to hear about the ‘Tiny Epic’ series by Gamelyn Games; games that are renowned for providing an epic gaming experience despite the tiny box size. Unfortunately, I’ve not had the opportunity to play any of the current Tiny Epic games yet. But as soon as I saw Tiny Epic Zombies pop up on Kickstarter, I knew this was about to change! And here’s why:
Kickstarter was always going to make an appearance on this blog, but I hadn’t planned for it to happen so soon. It was my plan to back my first projects early next year, and discuss my experiences of backing all the way through to the games arriving on my door step.
But then Champions of Hara happened.
The colourful artwork, versatile game play (for both versus and co-op), amazing mini’s, and captivating narrative captured my imagination straight away. I instantly knew I had to get behind this game.
So, without further ado, lets take a closer look at my first kickstarter!
Exploding Kittens blasted across the internet in 2015, when it became the Most Backed Kickstarter project of all time, with over 200,000 backers. And it’s easy to see why – with illustrations provided by The Oatmeal’s Matthew Inman, this game was a winner.
Exploding Kittens is an exhilarating, fast-paced game of survival, full to the brim with tension and bursting at the sides with laughter. It plays like mash up of Uno, Poker and Old Maid, with an explosive Russian Roulette style ultimatum at the end of every turn.
Released with two editions – the Standard (Family Friendly) Edition and the Not Safe For Work (NSFW) Edition – Exploding Kittens really does provide something for everyone.
